Story of Edith and Phil, the two neighbors who are about to be a couple as they plan to travel abroad and build their own new life together. At the same time, Roger, Edith's immature son, left his wife and children, heading to her mother's house. The plans are about to be broken up.
It warmed up a bit then and we were reminded of what a good actor Cleese is, even if you wouldn't necessarily place him in a benign, feelgood comedy where the talent felt as if it were only using three cylinders.
[Jason] Watkins is a brilliant comic actor who could make the phone directory funny, but Roger's extraordinarily dismal midlife crisis is beyond the reach of even his talent to amuse.
