When Gibney first inhabited the role of Halifax, a female protagonist was still, shockingly, a rarity, and Gibney owned it, and once again she wholly inhabits the meaty role written specifically for her.
It's unproven if such a lengthy gap makes nostalgia potent for an aging audience or tweaks the curiosity of newcomers, but it has led to a watchable if sometimes ungainly show.
