In this drama series, Walter Clarke acts as the youngest police commissioner in the history of the New York Police, where he faces more serious challenges. Walter was a rising policeman who saved the life of his partner who was shot from a gang. Over time, Walter is promoted to the detective and displayed the position of his choice within a short period. Clark asks for a new investigative mission and proves his true ability.
The concept is clever and some of the cast is well above average but the writing, always the most important element of a TV show, is subpar with cliched dialogue that betrays any possible character development.
James and McBride make music together in the way you want any fictional cop partners to and it's a solid, meat-and-potatoes police procedural, and one that could potentially evolve into more depending on how the flash-forwards are used down the road.
CBS' Golden Boy is another cop show, but it's not just another cop show. It's considerably better than most of what that genre has had to offer in recent years.
