A couple unintentionally watches a triple-homicide occurring before them, while they were having a secret date. They promise to themselves that they will not report the murder in the fear of their secret being unveiled.
It carries some of the DNA of a Lifetime movie of the week, but the writing and direction are better than that, and Mr. Paxton and especially Mr. Young are quite good.
Even if one were to exclusively count the procedural thrill of such murder-centric stories, Eyewitness comes up staggeringly short of what it's going for.
Although Eyewitness makes a poor first impression, the show eventually twists and turns into a mesmerizing and addictive murder story-slash-family drama.
While the investigation is dragged out a little bit longer than necessary over the 10 episodes, the ambient pleasures of watching Nicholson and her two young co-stars are enough to keep anyone plugging through the more boring stretches.
Sometimes tight, engrossing, thriller that at times feels like it's trying too hard to justify its 10-episode run. Gets a bit unnecessarily complicated and convoluted as it moves along.
