A family saga with a supernatural twist, set in a German town as a missing youngster sets four families on a wild chase for answers as they uncover a mind-twisting riddle that traverses three ages.
I definitely don't understand it, but I guess I'll eventually keep pursuing the answers, stumbling through the dark with interest but no real affection.
If you're in search of jump-scares and tangible terrors, look elsewhere. Dark is more concerned with the slow burn, and creating the subtle, increasing feeling that all is not right in the world.
Even if some of the "You may like this..." seams still show in the making of Dark, its biggest selling point is as a story about a community haunted by something it refuses to talk about.
