Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life demonstrates some promise despite occasionally going for cheap jokes, and its better moments are owed to a sense of unfailing, winning earnestness.
In addition to boasting a needlessly wordy title, Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life is a generally frantic effort, failing to settle on a structure or rhythm... and, despite some wholly appealing performances at its center, never finding its voice.
Cooper Barrett's a show that's definitely worth recommending, as long as one takes episode one as a failed experiment that's completely course corrected in episode two and beyond.
Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life celebrates bro bonding much the way Entourage and the Hangover franchise did but with one noteworthy exception - women are actually in on the fun.
