Arturo Castro presents this series of sketches with a unique irony. Arturo tries to move about life as the Latin Millennium in the United States. Arturo criticizes everything in life from modern history to American culture to politics to everything. Arturo presents a new cynical view through the unique Latinx experience.
With his new Comedy's Central sketch show "Alternatino," Arturo Castro has the rare opportunity to tell his own story and skewer the inevitably cringe-inducing perceptions of it, and he seizes it with palpable gusto.
All around personable in his performance, Castro seems more comfortable in sketch-land than the plotlines. His comedic performance never disappoints, ranging from good to great.
For me, this initially marks the rare Comedy Central sketch showcase that doesn't do justice to its central star, but perhaps if you tune in, it will be emboldened to take more - or, really, any - risks in a second season.
