This movie revolves around a long lost book that reappears to help an aging man, who searches everywhere for his son and a beautiful girl that does her best to find a cure for the loneliness of her mother.
Mihaileanu's direction is uneven and it's tempting to speculate on what a filmmaker less intensely preoccupied with Jewish themes - such as Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron, who was initially slated to helm - might have made of it.
