In a completely different drama, Mayor Tom Tinsdale decides to build a bridge in the state of Delaware, where he wants to annex the south of the city across the river. But his wife, Martha, may lead the opposition by calling on the committee unanimously to have Cassie run for mayor in very difficult circumstances. Jake, on the other hand, is organizing many powerful demonstrations but soon finds signs that integration may not be good at the moment.
