As a toxin begins to turn the residents of Ogden Marsh, Iowa into violent psychopaths, sheriff David Dutton tries to make sense of the situation while he, his wife, and two other unaffected townspeople band together in a fight for survival.
Activism-minded moviegoers will welcome the second coming of Romero's cautionary tale, but they'll have to sit through one hell of a nasty pitchfork scene to get the message.
If you haven't seen that many horror films, you might find it thrilling, but for those of you who are familiar with the genre you will most likely find yourself bored, and wishing for something more original.
It's kind of crazy, but it's also pretty smart. And if your nervous system can stand it, you should see it.

It doesn't stray that far from its conventional horror roots but what it does, it does ... adequately. Which, if we're honest, is a lot more than you expect out of something called The Crazies.
