Through a series of exciting and horrifying events, this movie follows Craig, the man who is suddenly kidnapped by Bill, a dangerous serial killer. Bill forces Craig to pretend to be him because the police is looking for him. With his life at stake, Craig tries to do his best to get out from this dangerous situation.
[For] low-budget horror, The Basement certainly isn't the worst, but it's far from the best. It's a good time-killer with great gore and decent performances, a nice background while you play that game on your phone. Don't expect anything more.
Not an effective scare zone, best enjoyed as a chance to watch a few actors hustle to showcase their stuff, handed ample screen time to work through a range of bizarre encounters.
Armed with a bargain basement budget and access to an actress with a following, co-directors Brian M. Conley and Nathan Ives deliver contained, gruesome horror that is hampered by a largely inert script.
