The story of the animation continues when Superman notes that there is a new supernatural team around him, The Elite. They quickly prove themselves to be a team of exceptional power and as their popularity grows, Superman finds it superior to him in increasingly disturbing ways. However, while Lewis Lane digs into the reality of the elite, the secrets discovered combine with the growing arrogance of the team to create a determined threat to Superman's destruction. In contrast, Superman will have to resort to a worrisome unconventional solution to defeat them with a new perspective they can not ignore.
Like All-Star Superman before it, SUPERMAN VS. THE ELITE is an exceptional animated superhero movie. It's violent and has some adult subject matter, but it also has a strong, thoughtful story and worthwhile messages.
The conflict between The Elite's way of doing things and Superman's sets up a "might makes right" allegory wrestling with national and global politics as well as, on a more personal level, civilian tolerance of capital punishment. [Blu-ray]
