Paulie is a parrot who guides a difficult fate in a nuclear laboratory. One day Mao, the parrot meets a doorman as he tries to tell him his story and journeys from his original owner in order to help him escape.
Shalhoub gives an impressively nuanced performance in the dangerously cliched role, and Paulie -- a combination of trained parrots, animatronics, and the voice of Mohr -- comes across as a fully developed character.
