The film is about a 15-year-old boy named Tommy Kirk. Tommy tries to have a new experience by running a family farm without his father. One day, Tommy was upset with his younger brother for the appearance of a mindless dog in the area even though everyone loved the dog.
Tearjerker is one of the best early Disney dramas.

Director Robert Stevenson understands how lightweight the first part is and never tries to make it seem more important that it is. His saves the energy and emphasis for the last act.
What makes Old Yeller more than run-of-the-mill Disney is not only the gut-wrenching climax, but also the remarkably well-done uplift of the denouement.
