Lawrence is a seasoned and experienced British lieutenant who has great knowledge of the approaches of the original nomadic tribes. Lawrence is sent on a mission to the Arabian Peninsula to meet Prince Faisal to establish a link between the Arabs and the British in order to fight against the armies of the Turks. After heading to that mission, Lawrence helped Sharif Ali resist the orders of his superior and hit him on a journey through the harsh desert to attack a strong Turkish port and possibly be under strong Turkish escort.
Despite the film's technical wizardry, the seven Academy Awards and the expansive budget, this time-honored epic is ultimately a testament to something elemental: the ability to make an audience gasp as a story is told.
Lean and photographer Fred A. Young have combined their artistic talents in an evocation of the Arabian desert that makes it both terrifying and deeply moving in its lonely grandeur.
