When a Grammy-nominated music producer/composer splits with his internet-famous girlfriend, he embarks on an existentialist journey to Paris to move on with his life while hunting for increasingly unique and exotic sounds to sample and turn into beats. A documentary that follows electronic musician Hot Sugar in his quest to capture, transform and extract meaning from the sounds and silences of every day life.
No doubt some out there like the electronic beat that Lough captures. Watching him work has some fascinating moments. His performances are uniquely intense instrumental sessions. Yet, Koenig's music is an acquired taste.
This would be great ammo for any parents out there who suspect their bartender-DJ son is going down the wrong path; the average viewer will find little justification to continue watching.
