After a failed attempt on his life that left his son dead, FBI agent Sean Archer goes in search of a weapon in which case assumes the identity of his sons killers through a face-transplant but things go wrong when the killer assumes his own identity.
Woo more than delivers in the overblown action stakes. It's also patently evident that both stars are having a ball sending up each other's mannerisms.
[Woo] benefits from the dual performances of John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, who alternately glower and boogie their way through creepy material that would have been far beyond the reach of lesser stars.
I won't pretend that I completely enjoyed it, but it certainly has a few elements that I've never seen before. Action aficionados will undoubtedly slobber all over themselves.
