For moviegoers who don't mind shutting down their rational brains in order to enjoy 85 minutes of likable escapism, Entanglement will be just the ticket. Probably.
It's not exactly a date movie (unless a breakup is in the works) but it's a pleasant enough story, thanks to a smart script and some appealing performances.
It's difficult for a film to be charming when it's so busy being preposterous - although in the case of "Entanglement," a distinct lack of energy and tonal control are also to blame.
Annoyingly, the idea evaporates in the third act twists and turns...it's light diversion that aspires to the glory of its quirky rom-com ancestors but misses the mark by taking itself too seriously. It's also tonally off in the approach to mental illness.
