It is a film that embodies the aspiration of a Latin woman (Diana Elizabeth Torres) to become a sushi chef. While working at a Japanese restaurant, it appears that this woman is trying to become a sushi chef, but she is unable to do so because she is race and gender seems a major hindrance to her desire.
Anthony Lucero's delectable debut feature has its share of on-the-nose writing and Cinderella-story contrivances, but for the most part folds its cross-cultural insights into a pleasing underdog narrative.
