Searching for identity and a kindred spirit while surrounded by competition, absurdity, and so many nude bras, Irene flounders until a mysterious woman's performance ignites her imagination. A dark comedy inspired by the real-life modeling adventures of writer / director / star Marjorie Conrad.
Conrad shows terrific promise as a director. I expect her films will only get better from here on out. It seems she has finally found her true calling.
There's hardly anything that comes across as original in Conrad's story, although the nitty-gritty details on modeling offer up some peculiar examples of fashion's ugly underbelly.
