Benji bonds with one orphaned puppy and two school kids, from that instant they become close pals, and the kids will have to depend on the street dog for a rescue mission.
Perhaps nostalgia is enough to engage, but "Benji" doesn't seem vital enough to revisit, especially when The Camp Corporation has nothing new to offer.
Without wandering far from the tried-and-true formula, director Brandon Camp (son of "Benji" creator Joe Camp) brings a measure of style and competence to the project that the franchise has never seen.
