It seems that reality is bitter and can not be faced without looking for a way to forget its past. The 40-year-old mother, whose house was severely condemned by the government, has no money and no other options. So now she must save her family from loss.

Beauty Mark is tonally odd at times, and not all the scenes make coherent sense. But its story and message are remarkable, the actors are excellent, and the realistic depiction of adult survivors of sexual abuse is heartfelt.
Thornton's extraordinary performance conjures such powerful emotional horror and desperation, that audiences have little choice but to be carried along with her into the dramatic vortex of her unrelenting plight.
Angie is a fierce, focused protagonist; the film serves as a reminder of how much strength it can take simply to keep going, and of the invisible triumphs of people all around us whose stories we would never guess at.
