He is a petty thief who steals to survive. Roy first meets Oliver's younger sister Thea Queen when he steals her purse. Because Thea feels sorry for him, she decides not to press charges. The two begin a friendship that quickly evolves. He is the son of Roy Harper, Sr. and very little is known about his mother. Although he is poor, Roy has a lot of pride and does not like taking charity from the wealthy. He thinks of Arrow as a hero.
