Charlotte Palmer is the youngest daughter of Mrs. Jennings and wife of Mr. Palmer. She is enormously silly and laughs the whole day about everything - even when it's not at all funny. Her husband often mocks her and behaves rude towards her, a fact which she either doesn't understand or chooses to ignore. Like her mother she enjoys gossiping, but is not as penetrant as Mrs. Jennings. She gives birth to a child during her winter-visit to London and afterwards hosts the sisters Dashwood as well as Col. Brandon at her mansion Cleveland. Essentially she is a good-natured person with very standard ideas of the world and her place in it.
