Experienced actor, choreographer, and director. Since then he has recreated Robbins' original West Side Story choreography for Houston Grand Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet, Glimmerglass Festival, Kansas City Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Atlanta Opera, Handa Opera at Sydney Harbour, Australia, and IHI Stage Around Tokyo, Japan. He served as artistic collaborator (2019-20) for the new West Side Story film, directed by Stephen Spielberg and adapted by Tony Kushner.Monge was honored with the 2017 Performing Arts Lifetime Achievement Award conferred by the Puerto Rican Day Parade Committee and in 2019 was nominated for Australia's prestigious Helpmann Award for best Choreography. He attended the University of Puerto Rico, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and graduated from Brooklyn College.
