Ilkka Vanne was born on March 31, 1946 in Lappeenranta, Finland as Ilkka Erkki Tapani Vanne. He is a director and actor, known for Lakeuden kutsu (2000), Toimittaja (1969) and Lehmän vuosi (2006). He has been married to Hannele Laaksonen since 1977. They have one child. He was previously married to Mirja Arrankoski.
