Ava Sofia Mattox

California Native, Ava Sofia Mattox began her career at age 8 when she played Munchkin #1 in her elementary school production of the Wizard of Oz. After that faithful performance, she spent much of her time chasing every artistic opportunity she could find including summer programs with SFArtsEd, Bay Area Shakespeare Company and The African American Shakespeare Company.While studying at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Ava became a core member of GRRRL Brigade at Dance Mission Theater - a dance theatre company that prides itself on incorporating politics and girl power into every project using a combination of Japanese Taiko drumming, modern dance, and spoken word.Making her way to the East Coast, Ava graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and immediately began working on both stage and screen.
