Cait Johnston is an award-winning actor, producer, and writer based in Manhattan. In 2016 the limited series she created, "Ask For Jane," was one of three finalists chosen in the New York Television Festival Works 4 Progress Initiative with Participant Media. In 2015, she earned the Grand Prize in the TAC Film Festival for her web series A Ladies' Guide to Making Conversation More Interesting (2015).In 2014, Cait booked the recurring role of Nurse Monk on Steven Soderbergh's critically acclaimed television series The Knick (2014). That same year, she starred in the feature film Ripped! (2014) which was an Official Selection of the Valley Film Festival in North Hollywood and the FirstGlance Film Fest in Philadelphia, and is now available to stream on Amazon Prime. Also in 2014, she starred in the short film Neighbors (2014) which was an Official Selection of the Housecore Horror Film & Music Festival in Austin, TX, the FANGORIA International Online Film Festival, the Picture Farm Film Festival in Brooklyn, New York, and the Kinofilm International Short Film Festival in Manchester, England.Described by one playwright as "an elegant wild child," Cait is also well-known in New York indie theatre circles, and has performed at La Mama E.T.C, The New Ohio Theatre, The Kraine, The American Globe Theater, and Off-Broadway in the garden of "Sleep No More." The production "R & J & Z," in which she originated the leading role of Maeve, earned 3 nominations for the New York Innovative Theatre Awards, ultimately winning best innovative design.Cait's training is extensive and always ongoing: she has studied with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, with the National Theater Institute at the O'Neill Theater Center in Connecticut, and with Juilliard professors at Barnard College of Columbia University (where she completed her bachelor's degree a full year early).
