A series of real-world tracks that the world continually presents. The series revolves around a range of elements and concepts such as racism, homophobia, religious hatred, racial hatred, or class hatred that push the world into the abyss.
To call the series clinical would be an overstatement. It can be dry at times, but also startling, and humbling, especially in its representation of human nature as a force almost beyond human control.
Why We Hate doesn't try to play on the viewer's emotions. It takes a look at hate in an objective, scientific way, which makes it even more fascinating.
Despite qualms about the focus, it's still possible to applaud the effort and high-minded motives, and there's plenty of food for thought buried in the episodes.
