Season 4 begins with a new series of powerful events, where Betty ignites all the cylinders. The girl is doing the job to get a large scoop with the new Gucci designer, Evan York, who is assisted by the hilda client, Sammy. On the other hand, Mark plans to sabotage things completely, and Amanda is recruited, but Matt is ignorant of his efforts in that period.
[The characters] almost all of the way to a happy ending, but the show leaves them just slightly away from the goal line. It's a device that should get irritating, but it somehow doesn't.
In addition to being a soapy, gossipy romp through New York's fashion magazines, Ugly Betty broke ground in its depiction of the gay and Latinx communities, as well as how it handled social issues.
Say whatever you will about the quality of the show over the past couple seasons... but you can't deny that Ugly Betty was one of the most beautiful, provoking, delightful dramedies to hit network television in the past decade.
After four seasons of struggles, breakups, murders, kidnappings, extortion attempts, and fashion emergencies, the cast of Ugly Betty damn well earned a happy ending - and that's exactly what creator Silvio Horta gave them.
