In adventures that look funny, we live here in a long series of animation adventures where, when the fear leader is in the blink of a paulinkle, Rocky must collaborate with the manager of Peachfuzz to prevent them from making stinky pancakes and taking over the world. On the other hand, when Rocky and Bullwinkle want an impressive story to tell them in their upcoming reunion, they accidentally launch for space in a very real rocket.
This reboot is good. What's wrong, however, is beyond its control. The original "Rocky" was an antidote to the madness. In 2018, no single cartoon can be an antidote to the madness. It's just another cartoon.
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, manages to honor the classic tone and themes of the title team's escapades while bringing them into the 21st century and giving the show the quality animation it deserves.
It's serviceable, sure - even enjoyable, for the most part - but it's not essential... Longtime fans of the characters are unlikely to be offended, but when it comes to remaking a pop culture classic, is "not terrible" the best we can hope for?
