The third season opens a new and powerful series of events that seem more dramatic and powerful. The season begins with a sudden surprise awaiting the crew when the mission costs the life of a crew member who left behind her son. On the other hand, the Foundation launches an old and effective trap left by an extinct race, with a completely preserved deserted ship serving as a cheese for Picard.
TNG had already found its own voice in the second season, as it stepped out of the original series' shadow and stood alone as its own entity. Here, it fully developed its potential for the first time, and gave us all a reason to tune in every week.
