In an attempt to survive, a group of researchers, who after the destruction and exhausted of earth by humankind that run off it's natural resources badly, begin to colonize oceans to save peace on earth.
This derivative but technologically advanced series has a sufficiently interesting premise and enough high-tech toys to perhaps survive the hostile waters of Sunday night programming.
Its sets were gigantic and impressive. Its computerized visual effects were first rate. Its storylines were... okay, maybe not always impressive. But I can forgive it for periodic misgivings.
"seaQuest" often seems so in love with its own flashy repertoire of high-tech gizmos that it fails to sufficiently emphasize the human element so essential for good storytelling.
Potentially interesting concepts never take off - the shaky global political situation that informs many of the stories never really becomes a believable backdrop.
