With episodes running at an economical half-hour, Sacred Lies maintains a solid enough balance between withholding answers and laying groundwork for the mysteries ahead.
After only two episodes in a 10-episode first season, there's always a chance for improvement -- especially with such strong surrounding components -- but so many opportunities have been wasted in just two episodes to inspire much prolonged hope.
