Season eleven of the exciting and mysterious series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit which presents a series of brutal sexually related crimes following the special unit, Special Victims Unit who investigate in it. In this season we see exciting cases such as the serial rapist in the first episode and the online girl which is found murdered in a suitcase.
Both SVU and its L&O twin Criminal Intent are precision-engineered procedurals that crank out more narrative satisfaction in an episode than some shows manage in a series. They're sometimes over-macho, but with surprises.
I always think, these cops see despicable things like this week-in, week-out; have they never developed any emotional restraint?... Unprofessional conduct always takes me out of the drama, no matter how well-written.
It's not often that this branch of the franchise has a comedic air, but the first of tonight's double bill has some laugh-out-loud moments -- mainly as a result of casting comedian Kathy Griffin.
Stronger ratings aside, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit can't trump the original "L&O." Is it the show's eeuuhh-inducing sex-crime plot lines? The single-note characters (angry Elliot, wounded Olivia)? The one-dimensional acting (hello, Ice-T)?
