Jennifer finds herself broke and soon to be homeless after being fired from a high salary job, resulting in the fact that she and her daughter, Gretchen, have no choice other than moving back in with Jennifer's mother, Maggie. Jennifer learns to rebuild the new life, working as a waitress at her brother Wayne's sports bar.
For viewers who find comfort in the familiar, TV Land happily offers more of the same with Jennifer Falls, but it's a slightly higher caliber more of the same than the network's past efforts.
There is a funny show in what is there, though, and the cast is likable enough to pull off the pilot's broader moments. It simply needs to live in the now, decide what it wants to be, and stay true to itself.
It's a fine cast, and one wishes they had something a little more focused to do, something a little less predictable, something that wove the isolated good moments into a consistent whole.
