Doctor Who - Season 9, Episode 2 The Witch's Familiar
Trailer
The ninth series of the British science fiction extends to an adventure of Vikings, Ghosts and the Daleks. Meanwhile the Doctor is faced with Missy who is ready to plague him again.
Speaking of comedy, the Doctor ripping Davros out of his chair (albeit offscreen), taking his seat, and pushing the buttons of a horde of Daleks was something we've never seen before and will likely never see again.
There's some meaty material in this episode, some of the best character stuff we've ever seen in Doctor Who, in fact, the two old foes seeming to share a moment of real connection before it's all revealed to be dupe and counter-dupe.
It's gratifying to see some of the themes explored in The Witch's Familiar are firmly grounded in Doctor Who's humanist and ultimately optimistic worldview.
"The Witch's Familiar" provides a more than effective conclusion to this season premiere, crystallizing the kind of clever scenarios Moffat does best while still taking the time to introduce some new corners of this already well-explored universe.
