The series speaks of a wide range of exciting events faced by the illustrious news photographer. The series begins with a news photographer trying to save his career before collapsing because of these strange accusations. When that man is accused of falsifying a picture of his award-winning image, things seem to be going at an unwanted turn. The man tries to maintain his professional life that is about to be lost.
There are interesting dichotomies explored in Chimerica... However, while Kirkwood's witty dialogue keeps the pace whipping along, the drama is not without its clichés.
The series ending is fantastic, as is the lesson (vague spoiler alert) that you can see a photograph, but not entirely understand it. Three stars for the opening episode, but four overall.
The two narratives seem oddly grafted, diverging in tone, but writer Lucy Kirkwood deserves some credit for not merely sticking to a western perspective.
