In the new season, the Broadchurch community returns to rebuild itself in the wake of the traumatic events that once changed things. Over time, as the case goes to court, there will be mysterious secrets that reflect the course of things.
Fortunately, Broadchurch, created and written by Chris Chibnall, still excels most frequently as a character study - to a notable degree, of all its major characters, who are sketched with vividness and, in almost every case, sympathy and poignance.
This bolt from the blue made me realise just how powerful and compelling the case of Danny Latimer was and how satisfying it was to rake over what had gone before.
