The fifth season begins with a new mission to solve the Big Tobacco case, but Alan stands alone to solve it because his partner, Denny, is too busy to have a personal problem.
Kelley did it the way he always has, by blending real-life headlines and issues into fictional drama that was simultaneous complex, troubling, reflective, absurd and amusing.
Despite Season Four of "Boston Legal" having a vague vibe of impending staleness, creator/writer David E. Kelley came roaring back with a vengeance for the abbreviated fifth season.
