Set in Memphis, this exciting series throws the light on what's happening inside a famous law firm there. With a great leader, lawyer Elijah Strait, the firm puts its' interests on the most controversial landmark civil rights cases.
What works tepidly well here is a family dynamic that at least feels unusual; what does not are heard-them-all-before clichés about the power and responsibilities of attorneys.
The crusading civil attorneys angle enables Bluff City Law to feel different and hopeful, a nice contrast to the Dick Wolf courtroom-style drama that dominates TV.
[Jimmy] Smits is solid enough as the patriarch of Bluff City Law while [Caitlin] McGee also makes her presence felt in some scenes. Overall, though, this is yet another same old, same old broadcast network drama series.
