The life of a lovely married couple, Billy and Cody, who dreams of having a wealthy and good business, moves to, North Dakota, where they make their mind to trade in oil, after the great discovery of it, has been turned upside down, when they face the opposition of an evil tycoon man.
It is loaded with suspense, heart and intrigue and the scenery is gorgeous in more ways than one. Gee, I sound like I am gushing. I enjoyed it and can see it winning over Americans who don't watch football on Sunday night.
Johnson is fun but Crawford is flat and dull, too unengaging to really be a lead on a show like this one... And I don't expect viewers to tune in every week without a hero to keep them engaged.
On the one hand, it's full of a lot of the cheesy stereotypes and ludicrous plotting that my soap-loving side is crazy about. On the other... that's about all there is, and what's there isn't very good.
ABC's Blood and Oil was one of several new series of the 2015-2016 season to see a showrunner depart due to "creative differences" before premiering. Having now twice seen the pilot, I'm not surprised.
