But overall Made in Scotland is a winning hour in the company of The Big Yin - and one which might just spark valuable conversations about how to approach the end of one's life with a similar sense of adventure.
There's a more contemplative, poignant air to this part, which reveals Billy to be a voracious reader, a keen artist and a deep thinker with a strong political awareness.
Part of me loved Billy Connolly: Made in Scotland... part of me felt it was a hastily contrived series for a legendary comedian while still capable of fronting it.
In his documentary dotage, he's brilliant at being himself on TV and knowing how much limelight to hog. He knows he's a big deal, but he wants to share things that interest and delight him - and they are usually other people.
