An exciting TV series that continues the events of Beverly Hills, 90210 which ended about 10 years ago. The old series followed the daily life of a group of young and the troubles they face at every day. The new one continue following the same group after they have grown up.
Nostalgia is a dangerous drug, I don't know if I loved the first two episodes because they were good and subversive or if I just like seeing this group of people back together again. I'm down for this strange ride.
Meta, knowing, and interested in what fame, or post-fame, looks like at middle age. But it's also the same in that it's soapy and silly and you can't stop watching it even though your brain keeps firing neurons screaming that you should know better.
Dare I say BH90210 is wonderful and weird. Just as the original 90210 broke the mold and set the foundation for all teen dramas to follow, this six-episode series breaks the mold on reboots and may very well inform all that follow.
The BH90210 cast will never get past the show that first made them famous. But as these actors/characters face the shadow-filled years of middle-age alongside the co-stars they grew up with, maybe that's not such a bad thing.
