The fourth season is a series of strong events that start the season. Jack Bauer entered his car and began to cry after all that he was carrying. A train collided with a truck full of explosives. On the other hand, a man is shot, but Jack Bauer may have heard the scream of his kidnapped girlfriend, and Jack receives a phone call to report to the CTU.
Perhaps we can attribute the success of season four not only to its ingenious plot twists and its unrepentant determination to shock its audience, but to its unique and complex cast of characters.
The first three hours have all the edge-of-your-seat thrills that marked the show's first season, particularly in a train crash that begins tonight's episode and scenes at the end of the first hour.
But while it's difficult to fault the writers for staying close to surefire sensationalist tricks certain to raise your heart rate a notch or two, it's still jolting to find yourself back in their ruthless company once again.
