They are a group of Aliens who pretend to be friendly. These beings are trying to plan for control where they come to Earth to carry out these plans. Aliens disguises themselves as human beings in order to execute these schemes, where they discover that the planet of aliens is dying.
The main lesson dates back at least to the 1940s and still holds up today: If you don't stand up for what's right when others are being singled out, there will be nobody left to stand up for you when it's your turn.
What separates V from much TV and movie sci-fi is that it is more than scares and chases, although it has both. It is also an allegory about fascist takeover -- a pulp-comic 1984.
