The film tells the story of beautiful, enigmatic Aislin, who is more in tune with nature than she is with her husband or the villagers. When a rugged 17-year-old delinquent has been sent to live with them, Aislin is caught between her husband and the boy.
While the Scottish landscape has never looked more enticing, sadly, majestic mountains and sweeping seascapes cannot plaster over the uncomfortable cracks in McFarlane's feature debut.
Everything about The Silent Storm suggests a screenplay was written entirely IN CAPITAL LETTERS. No "r" goes unrolled, no piece of furniture is unpounded.
