Driving by his deep will of solving mysteries behind the behavior of people and the weird creatures being to appear, such as dragons, a smart and courageous wizard, struggles against investigating on the case, receiving help from a young teenager guy.
If this starchy, nearly two-hour allegory about human hubris bluntly addresses a historical moment when global warming threatens the planet and pollution is fouling the seas, its chilly, formal tone keeps you at an emotional distance.

It's interesting that Tales From Earthsea was originally released in 2006... especially since it seems like in four years, someone could have found a way to make it more interesting.
An overly stoic, pretentious, boring, unimaginative trainwreck that just happens to have been made by some of the greatest animators in the history of Japanese anime.
...an ill-conceived story for Western audiences who will blanch at its bizarre embrace of patricide that its young protagonist commits before escaping on a journey of guided self-discovery.
There's a whole lot going on in the Japanese anime fantasy Tales From Earthsea, so why is it such a bore?
