In a dramatic atmosphere, this movie follows Rose, an old woman who has invited her daughter Patty and granddaughter Allison to spend the weekend with her. They spend the time talking together but the most story that take their attention the story of an affair between Rose and a woman called Louise in 1960s.
"Snapshots" nicely shuttles between past and present to tell its affecting, evocative tale of familial and romantic love among several generations of women.
Performances all around are strong, with Piper Laurie's Rose taking the lead and directing us through the story's narrative. We are invited to soak in the retro atmosphere as the story unfolds at a leisurely pace.
"Snapshots" wallows a little too readily in cliché to be quite as stirring as its story - one drawn from Corran's own family history - sounds on paper.
