The film is based on the first game of the platforming video game series of the same name. When the galaxy comes under the threat of a nefarious space captain, a mechanic and his newfound robot ally join an elite squad of combatants to save the universe.
There's a fair amount to appreciate about "Ratchet & Clank," especially its desire to send up the genre conventions at play here. It's a shame, then, that the movie ultimately finds itself becoming so conventional.
